BARCELONA, Spain - The narrow-web printing market is growing swiftly - and more complex. Market disruptions such as short-run packaging and new food packaging regulations call for low-migration products. Flexible packaging represents a huge opportunity for label makers. Digital printing meets many of the demands, but comes with challenging requirements for the adhesives and coatings.
For Ashland Performance Materials, a commercial unit of Ashland Inc. (NYSE:ASH), the opportunity is clear - innovation drives growth. "Digital printing is growing, and so is the demand for print-receptive coatings that can deliver superb ink adhesion and a quick-dry formulation to speed processing for label printers," said Stuart May, business director adhesives and coatings, Ashland Performance Materials. Low migration laminating adhesives and coatings
In addition, Ashland is developing improved performance PureRad™ low migration laminating adhesives and coatings as an answer to the industry's increased focus on short-run packaging and food safety.

Overprint varnishes
