Ashland presents new blood irradiation indicators at 2023 AABB Annual Meeting

WILMINGTON, Del., October 14, 2023 – Ashland is presenting new Rad-Sure™ blood irradiation indicators at the 2023 AABB Annual Meeting, Nashville, TN, October 14 to 17, 2023. Rad- Sure™ blood irradiation indicators are used to verify that the blood has been irradiated properly for transfusion purposes. Blood is irradiated to inactivate white blood cells present to prevent transfusion-associated graft-vs-host disease (TA-GvHD).

Stored at room temperature, the new versions of Rad- Sure™ blood irradiation indicators can be used interchangeably with gamma and x-ray radiation sources.

Dose-Map™ blood irradiator dosimetry system provides a simple method for confirming the dose delivered by a blood irradiator. An easy three-step process proactively determines whether a blood irradiator is functioning properly, thus ensuring blood products are irradiated appropriately.
