Vinyl Ester Polymer Lining for Duplex 2205 Alloy Constructed Flue-gas Desulfurization Absorber Modules
Heather Ramsey, senior chemist, Sauereisen and Thom Johnson, corrosion industry manager, Ashland Performance Materials
Monday, March 18 at 10:25 a.m. in Room S310E&F
This paper will discuss the issues surrounding 2205 alloy corrosion as well as methods to rehabilitate and protect both old and new FGD absorbers with epoxy vinyl ester polymer linings. The paper will also review the proper cleaning, surface preparation, application process, and choice of epoxy vinyl ester polymer lining to protect 2205 alloy and prevent its premature breakdown in this demanding environment.

Best Practices - The Use of Fiberglass Reinforced Plastics in Pulp & Paper Processing
Donald Kelley, principal scientist
Monday, March 18 at 2:15 p.m. in Room S320F
Mr. Kelley will demonstrate why FRP made from Derakane™ epoxy vinyl ester resins is the preferred material of construction for equipment employed in pulp and paper processing plants. In addition, he will explain how FRP can serve as a highly durable alternative to specialty alloys at a fraction of the price.

Use of FRP Lining for Controlling Corrosion in Mineral & Chemical Processing Industries
Michael Stevens, principal scientist
Tuesday, March 19, 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., TEG 191X informal session held in Room S311 This talk will illustrate the outstanding performance afforded by FRP linings in chemical and mineral processing service. Durability, cost and required maintenance comparisons between rubber linings and FRP linings will be explored. A wide variety of applications and case histories will be discussed.

Best Practices for Corrosion Service in Chlorine Environments
Bruce Colley, global product manager
Tuesday, March 19, 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., TEG 191X informal session held in Room S311 This presentation highlights the longstanding performance of FRP in the chemical industry where equipment fabricated with Derakane resins routinely outperforms more expensive alloys. As such, it is now becoming the first material considered, rather than one of last resort. A wide range of applications with numerous case histories will be shown where these versatile materials have been used successfully for corrosion control in chlorine environments.
